Can we watch Gilmore Girls and/or Gossip Girl and/or the royal wedding? I saw the wedding on DVD for $10 at Wal-Mart... might buy for this weekend's sake. All I know is, Dr. Who is not invited to this reunion...
Last night we had a training for new volunteers for one of the programs we coordinate, it went so well. It takes so much work to recruit new volunteers, ayiyi! Worth it though.
I read Abbey's post about running and such.... it's true! You have more energy when you exercise! Can someone explain why this is so? Not a clue. Lately I've gone running on track at the HS across the street, and it is super, super awkward when a random football practice starts (they are never at the same time, I can't figure out their schedule to avoid such occurrences!) and all these high school boys gather on the track/field and just watch me run in all my sweaty, nasty glory. Usually it's when I have just a few laps left and I don't want to stop when I'm almost done. Lovely.
I helped at the Park to Park half-marathon last weekend, it was SO INSPIRING. The oldest runner out of all 1300 of them was EIGHTY-SIX YEARS OLD (he ran the 10k, but still!). One woman was running pregnant with a shirt that said "Running for Two," very sweet. I teared up more than once, especially when some groups would hold hands as they passed the finish line together. One group was running in memory of a middle-aged man who passed away last week while he was training for Park to Park.
Um, I miss having girl friends in the same city... I have exactly 3 friends who are not guys here! I don't mind so much, but I'm going to The Help with Chase tomorrow because I have no chicks to go to it with! I'm lucky Chase wants to see it, I was about to go to it myself (Liz....marry him)!

UNI are not in college anymore!
I'm sad about being done with college. I'm happy about being done with college. Sigh. Bittersweetness!
Alas, I can't afford to be melancholy today!
This weekend Laura and I went to the state fair with 19 of our relatives and friends! Abbey, Zach and Krista graced us with their presences as well! It was such a fun time. :) It's hard to explain how Laura and I know these friends of ours that we went with... we all went to the same Bible camp in northern Minnesota, most of us from the time we were 9 until we were 18! We also are all in the same circle of people that have gone to Bible conferences in Fargo and Minneapolis as long as I can remember, and many of our parents went to teh same camp/conference when they were growing up too. I am so thankful we got to spend time with so many of these friends of ours that we only get to see a few times a year!
My brother and 2 of Laura's brothers and our friend Andre got to compete in a grape-stomping contest... interesting. They got 2nd place out of 3!I never want to sip wine again if they still get the grape juice through such a method.
Laura, our cousin Leanna and a few others also got to milk cows for the first time ever! Abbey got an amazing shot of Laura's experience...Laura also got whacked in the face a few times by the cow's tail. Heh heh.
Cheese curds + corn dog + funnel cake + slushie + lemonade = best. Calories don't count on fair days.
Plus, we all probably walked and ran off half of what we ate that day. After the fair we grilled out at Laura's parents' house (they were gone for the weekend, they're staying at my family's lake place in Minnesota for the week.... my friend Ashley and I slept in their bed this weekend....I tried not to think about how awkward this probably was....but it's the most comfortable bed! Such wonderful back support!), followed by ultimate frisbee in the dark with a glow-in-the-dark frisbee, jumping on the trampoline, playing basketball, and a lap up the yard that Laura and I did to burn off some excess energy that spontaneously appeared! (The day before, Laura, Leanna and I had rolled down the hilly yard, jumped on the tramp, and done the "Belly, Butt and Thighs" work-out video, which ended with our buddies Luke and Asher frightening the daylights out of us when they appeared out of the corner of Leanna's eye. "I saw 2 strange men!" We weren't expecting anyone to come to the house anytime soon! TERRIFYING.)
Later we played sardines in the dark in their house (Have you guys seen Laura's house? It is the most amazing house. So perfect for sardines. Perfectly dangerous in the dark). I nearly had a legitimate panic attack the first round, I hated not being able to see anything. Truly, truly enjoyed when Ashley, Laura and Leanna were the last 3 who hadn't found me when it was my turn to hide... "I bet they all went outside and left us in here! They're probably hiding in their cars!" Baha.
"There she is, on middle C!" Only Laura will get that.
Krista, Laura, Abbey....hope your first week as real life TEACHERS goes so well! I expect your blogs to be filled with humorous stories.

Living the Dream
Hello, lovelies! I guess I am nearly the caboose on this blogging bandwagon, huh?
When I say living the dream, I mean that I am living a surreal life without internet and cable in my apartment! How have I done this, you ask? Well, I have joined the 21st century in getting internet on my phone. In fact, yesterday I upgraded to a ridiculously fancy smart phone. I'm still not used to it, considering that my old phone was quite ancient and did not have a touch screen or a flashlight app or all these luxurious characteristics. Redbox Rental app for a phone? Ridiculous. Cool, but a tad, tad ridiculous.
I really don't miss cable, since I am much more of a bookworm than a TV couch potato. Of course, life without Teen Mom, What Not to Wear, Project Runway, HGTV, and those fabulous Amish dramas on Lifetime is a bit woeful! Most of these are online, so if I have absolutely nothing to do at work I can watch them I suppose. Definitely wanted to get internet this week though so I can do more work from home, but it is so expensive! And all the internet places want you to sign a 2-year contract and I'll probably only be here until April....ugh. Who knows how I can pay $20 a month for internet with a 6-month contract?! That's all I want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this so much to ask for? Internet and cable companies are simply robber barons.
Enough about my boring technology woes.
I'm muy excited for the Iowa State Fair this weekend. I believe 2 of the 4 readers of this blog will be gracing the fairgrounds with their presences as well! Hip hip hooray. Butter on a stick, anyone? Why not!
Also, you should all get Pinterest. I know you'd all love it and likely become addicted to it.
I suppose tomorrow I'll write about what I do all day every day in this grown-up world I've entered. (I actually can't sleep past 7:30 in the morning anymore...impressive or depressing?) Happy Tuesday!
